Now THAT would make fighting 5 piglins after opening the chest worth it. Maybe deep in the heart of the Bastion there is the odd block of Ancient Debris, but mainly, Ancient Debris and scraps (or even a whole ingot if you're very lucky) could be found in the chests. It would remove the slog that is mining for Netherite, and it would give a HUGE incentive to go to the Bastions. Making Netherite exclusive to Bastions would fix two problems in one. Netherite is twice as rare, and no fun caves. At least with Diamond mining you can explore caves and stuff. It's like mining for diamonds, but worse. I've always found Netherite mining to be a massive chore. They could, and hear me out on this one, but they COULD even make it so that Netherite can ONLY be found in Bastions. I'm sure there's SO many things they could do with this. Maybe some form of unique weapon or tool or maybe even a new totem or something. Yes, there is soul speed but that's incredibly situational. Even just the guarantee of Mending or something like that. There could also be a special enchantment that spawns there. Alternatively, an ingredient not found anywhere else that allows 13-minute potions to be brewed, or super potent potions. Or maybe an extra long (13 minute) potion. This can be an unbrewable potion such as the Health Boost II Potion or something, or maybe like, a strength IV potion. Maybe some form of unique potion that can only be found in the Bastion. So what are some ideas to revolutionize the Bastion? Definitely add something unique and game-changing. But you can find way better diamond enchanted loot in an End City though. At best the occasional diamond enchanted gear. There is absolutely no incentive to go to a Bastion, other than for some. What does the Bastion have? A music disc. Heck, even Ocean Monuments have Sponge, which can't be found anywhere else and Prismarine to make Conduits. Or End Cities, which have an item that literally enables flight, as well as Shulker shells for Shulker Boxes. Compare them to Fortresses which have Blaze Rods (one of the most useful late-game items), Wither Skulls and even Nether Wart to make pretty much any potion. There is Crying Obsidian, but that can be obtained much easier by bartering with Piglins.īastions really seem like a challenge for the sake of a challenge. There are a lot of gold blocks, but gold is abundant in the Nether and can also be found in Ocean Monuments. Sure, you can find God Apples in the treasure room, but you can find God Apples in many other structures too if you're lucky. There is nothing you can find in the Bastion, that can't be found anywhere else, other than a music disk and a banner pattern. For the very simple reason that there is actually no incentive to risk dying to raid one.ġ.16.2 did improve the loot, but that didn't really fix the underlying fatal flaw: there is nothing really unique in the Bastion that will impact your survival gameplay. Whenever I find a Bastion, I find myself going straight past it.īastions are the toughest structure in Minecraft, one of the greatest challenges in the game, and yet I ignore them. There is one feature that is absolutely massive, that I see and never bother with. Ruined portals too.īut there is one major feature in 1.16 where this is not the case, at all. Bartering, Striders and killing Hoglins for food are the prime example of this. When a feature is well implemented, it becomes a part of the normal Minecraft gameplay and you can't believe you ever didn't have it. Even for a player of 8 years such as myself, these features in 1.16 have provided an entirely novel Minecraft Survival experience! Making use of striders to cross large lava lakes running out of food and racing against the Piglins for a Hoglin kill finding gold ore to barter with Piglins until I have loads of fire resistance, ender pearls and crying obsidian to make a respawn anchor. I've been doing a lot of Nether building and Nether survival lately, so I've really now had a chance to playtest the 1.16 update thoroughly. I have been playing a lot of survival Minecraft lately, and have been absolutely loving the 1.16 update. (#spoiler) = neat!
